How Much Ramen Can Kill You?

Introduction

If you’re a fan of instant ramen, it’s important to know that this delicious food can kill you. Instant ramen isn’t actually the most lethal thing on the market—not by a long shot.

You see, when scientists study whether or not something can kill someone in small quantities, they use something called LD50.

This stands for “Lethal Dose 50 percent,” which means that there’s a 50/50 chance that any given item will kill you if consumed in large enough quantities. And yes, even your favorite microwavable noodles fall into this category.

How much ramen can kill you?

The amount of ramen it takes to kill you depends on the type of ramen you’re eating and how long you’ve been eating it.

If your weight is average for your height, then this would theoretically kill a person weighing 15 pounds less than them, but not necessarily someone who weighs more or less than 15 pounds less than them.

On the other hand, if a person were to down two servings of Sun Noodle’s chicken broth-based Tanmen within an hour, they’d be consuming 40 times their recommended daily intake, enough to kill even though they weigh over 200 pounds.
